Papers of Charles G. Halpine, 1811-1889.

Letters, manuscripts (some poetry), and a large collection of ephemera including newspaper clippings and photographs. Halpine's poetry, prose, and private correspondence with his wife and leading literary and political figures deals with New York political and literary life and discusses his Civil War experience. The collection also includes an 1864 pocket diary, an incomplete novel, and a biographical sketch of Halpine written by his wife.
